In the last week, all the cool kids on the coasts started buzzing about a sweet treat being served at L.A.'s B Sweet Dessert Bar— the ice cream-stuffed donut.
But while the usual media feeding frenzy commenced with comforting predictability, it left one thing out of the story: This time, the brilliant food fusion that has the country talking may well have started in St. Louis.
For the past year, Vincent Marsden of Vincent Van Doughnut(two locations, including 1072 Tower Grove Avenue) has been serving a treat he calls "Doughnut Ice Cream Sandwiches," but which sound almost exactly like the stuffed donuts everyone is raving about in Los Angeles.
