
Heather Navarro beat back two politically savvy rivals tonight to claim Mayor Lyda Krewson's former seat on the Board of Aldermen — and it wasn't even close.
Navarro earned 68.85 percent of the vote in the July 11 special election, handily besting both former alderman Steve Roberts Sr. and attorney Celeste Navarro by more than 1,000 votes, according to final but unofficial results posted at 9:30 p.m.
Vossmeyer finished second with 15.7 percent of the vote and Roberts won 14.35 percent. Jerome Bauer finished a distant fourth, with less than one percent of the vote.
Navarro won a critical nod from the Democratic City Central Committee in May, which gave her its endorsement to finish Krewson's term.…
